Founded on 18 January 1981 by Dato’ Chee Kong Chi, the firm began with just a single clerk. Through the unwavering trust and support of our clients, together with the dedication and commitment of our lawyers and staff, we have grown into a leading legal practice serving clients across a wide range of industries. Over the decades, we have built a reputation for excellence, integrity, and client-focused service, providing trusted legal counsel to businesses and individuals alike.

Initially specialising in project conveyancing, we expanded into civil litigation in 1983 and banking and corporate matters in 1985, representing clients such as Affin Bank Berhad and the Melaka Tong Bee Group. In 1986, we adopted the “Practice Development” management concept pioneered by Aubrey Wilson, laying the foundation for sustainable growth.

By 1989, we were advising foreign investors and working closely with government agencies. In 1992, we established our Corporate and Commercial Practice, and in 1994, we received our first appointment as solicitors for the public listing of Bonia Holdings Berhad.
